6 Items to Add to Your New Year’s Resolution List

I will:

  1. Run the open order report at least once after every commission statement entry.
  2. Run the sales analysis report to monitor my sales performance.
  3. Run the customers with no orders for specific deliveries after every market to identify the missed bookings.
  4. Run the commission projection report after every market to better plan for cash flow.
  5. Use the market call feature to better track my calls before trade shows.
  6. Review at least one showroom exchange blog post for every 10 TMZ articles.

We Continue to Make SE More User Friendly

Had trouble finding buttons? It’s happened to us too! SE now has larger action buttons to expedite your next action. Don’t remember what a button does? SE is adding multiple hint boxes to quickly explain the functionality (e.g. zip code column search on customer view/tab). Not sure what something means? We decided to refresh the titles of many action labels to more natural language. (e.g. “list all” has been replaced by “clear search”)
Best of all, you won’t need to update anything for these new benefits.

Did we miss anything? Please let us know where improvements are still needed. email help@readytoview.com.

Thanks for your continued support.

We hope our improvements make you more comfortable  with showroom exchange.

Internet Explorer

If you are currently using Internet Explorer, showroom exchange highly recommends switching to Firefox or Google Chrome. There are known issues with older versions of Internet Explorer (prior to version 9) such as longer times for rendering pages. e.g. white pages when navigating different tabs in showroom exchange.

If you are using Internet Explorer 9, the issue may not be as dramatic; however, we still recommend Firefox or Google Chrome. You can obtain them from the following links:

Firefox www.mozilla.org/firefox

Chrome www.google.com/chrome

6 Benefits of Scanning Orders

Showroom Exchange’s order scanning add-on module (visual order management) allows you to scan and upload (in bulk) your orders (after order-entry).

What is it for?
Instead of leaving your desk to pull a physical copy of the order, use a single click to view the order as an image.

Usage scenario:
If a retailer contacts your showroom and mentions they did not order a style, your reps can view the original order and forward a copy to the retailer if necessary.

Is it right for our showroom?
1- How often should your reps leave their desk to pull an order (from the filing cabinet) but do not because they are too busy or it is too time consuming?
2- How often do your reps pull orders (from the filing cabinet) per day?
3- How often are your reps on the road and require access to the filing cabinet?
4- How do you share a single order copy between multiple locations? e.g.; bicoastal showrooms, home office and showroom
5- With an order image a click away, will your reps be more likely to look up orders?
6- How often does rep-A pull an order and forget to return it (or misplaces it) and rep-B cannot find the same order?

considering #2 from above:
It takes the average rep 2 to 3 minutes to lookup an order (assuming it was properly filed). This includes round trip (for a very small office) to the filing cabinet and re-filing of the order. 2 to 3 minutes does not include time to scan and email/fax, if necessary.
Repeated 3 to 5 times per day (for each rep), that’s approximately a 10 minute average per rep/day vs. 3 to 5 clicks (PLUS one-time scan effort).

Ultimately, it just boils down to time savings and productivity.

What it does not do:
eliminate the order entry process

What next?
– If feasible, measure the above for your own showroom and engage your reps for their feedback.

6 Benefits of Scanning Orders

Why backup your PC?

your PC has just suffered a hard-drive failure. you’ve spent several hours on a tech-support call and your data is still irrecoverable. clean-room data-recovery facilities have quoted you several thousand dollars to ‘attempt’ to recover your data. their fee is due and payable regardless of the outcome.

now… use your time-machine to turn the clock back 1 day. you have the opportunity to conduct your own backups for a fraction of the cost. would you consider it?

what next?

Search by “$ range” on the Customer View Page

“I believe in contacting my best customers often and without this feature we would have to research either by reports or checking each customer’s history. Also during market time we email all of our stores but after not getting in touch with our customers we start calling. A customer who purchased $800 in 2010 will not be called, a customer who bought $20,000 in 2010 will be contacted many times. Everyone is invited to come into my showroom and we help them all but we make 85% of our income with 15% of our stores, the 15% keep me in business”
a showroom exchange subscriber’s view of this new feature.

You now have the ability to search on the customer view page by the amount a customer has purchased. The new “$ active” column (also available as “$ booked”) lets you search by “booked dollars”, “active dollars” and it even lets you decide if you want to search on the total amount a customer has purchased from all mfrs or an order specific amount .

In order to access the settings, just click on the gear icon that appears next to the “$ range” column header and adjust the settings accordingly.  You also have additional options when you click on the “last canceldate” or “last orderdate” column header.
The screen-shot below shows where you can access the settings to view this newly released feature.

You can now assign a single note to multiple manufacturers

We have made a change to the “notes” section of showroom exchange that now lets you refer the note to multiple manufacturer’s at the same time. Â This will help users add notes more quickly as they do not have to add a common note for every manufacturer.

See the screen-shot below to show the multiple selection options for the mfrs.

Fundamental change to the searching function in showroom exchange

In an effort to make searching simpler and more intuitive, we have made a change to the search function on view pages. This change does not apply to report filters.

You will no longer be required to use an asterisk (*) when doing a wildcard searches in any of the columns on the view pages, e.g., customers, orders, etc. We have changed Showroom Exchange so that all you need to do is type out the criteria you are looking for.

“fred” will yield the same result as “*fred*”

“fred*” and “*fred” will still behave as they did before

If it is your preference to continuing using the old logic, we can switch your showroom back. Just email help@readytoview.com with the following subject, “switch back the search function”

Please click on the link below to view a video that shows these changes.
